Faith Commons is a nonprofit, started in Dallas in 2018 by multi faith religious leaders committed to promoting the common good.
People of all faiths and none should be able to come to the “commons,” so to speak. They should be able to bring with them their whole selves, not having to strip anything of their spiritual identities in order to participate in this great experiment in religious liberty that we call the United States of America. Diversity will carry with it disagreements over definitions of justice, freedom and the common good. But we want to model how to work together amid those differences, learning from one another, overcoming fear and misunderstanding of one another, seeking together to love God and our neighbor as ourselves.
The State of our Faith series launched at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic and the shelter-in-place orders in mid-March, as a way to offer hope and guidance from faith leaders in an uncertain time. Over time, the pandemic has shone a light on many injustices in our community that needs the attention of people of faith.
