Source of the Problem?

The history of God and man is riddled with the kinds of problems you mentioned. It is not hard to find atrocities among the more barbaric times, but few consider the impact that we experience in modern day as related to those. I believe your notes from current goings on in India and elsewhere make it plain that there definitely is an impact.
What I am considering is whether these atrocities and class reprisals are part of the religious sect itself or, are they evidence of how religions can be controlled and control the populace? That is, the intentions may be foundationally good, but leadership that is affected by an underlying motive and cause can steer the whole thing awry. (I would add also that this aspect of human behavior is not limited to religion)
